Chapter 15. Open a mapset

A created mapset can be opened by clicking the menu-items File . Mapset . Open Mapset... . A dialog as in Picture 5.3 shows. Here all mapsets are listed that are stored on the local data carrier. Simply choose one from the list and press Open. The mapset will then be checked for its validity and format.

After a successful check an information-panel opens similar to the one in Picture 5.4.

It displays the most essential informations about the mapset. Additionally to the parameters that were set on the creation it informs about the completion-status, amount of wireless networks and occupied diskspace. The here displayed mapset is not complete yet. There were no map-images loaded. You can do this now by clicking the Reload MapImagesbutton. A dialog pops up with a little notice and the question if you wish to reload all mapimages or only the missing ones (see Picture 5.5). This is mainly intended if you canceled the map-loading-procedure and wish to continue now. It also allows checking the mapset for completion.

While the loading takes place a progress-dialog shows the remaining time for this operation as in Picture 5.6.

The loading can take up to one hour depending on your internet connection and amount of maps. After it finished a short dialog will inform about it. The same can be done with the network informations. You can also use this option if you want to update your network informations according to this mapset. The loading takes place in a silent way. The progress is indicated in the status-bar. After the operation a summary shown up as in Picture 5.7:

Notice that when opening an incomplete mapset there will be map-images that cannot be loaded if you are in offline-mode. A corresponding dialog will appear to inform you about this circumstance.

After a click to the Open-button there will automatically display the center-map of the mapset as in Picture 5.8.

Notice that if a mapset is loaded and the application is in offline-mode only the available map-scales will appear in the selection under the navigation-control. All scales will be available again if you unload the mapset (click the button Unload on the surface) or change to online-mode.
